    Internal Family Systems (IFS)

The core of my work. IFS understands the mind as made up of different "parts," each with its own perspective, role, and history. The inner critic, the perfectionist, the exhausted caregiver, the people-pleaser: these aren't character flaws. They're parts of you doing their best with what they had. When we approach them with curiosity instead of judgment, healing becomes possible in a way that willpower alone never could.

    EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is one of the most evidence-supported treatments for trauma available. It works by activating the brain's natural processing system to reduce the emotional charge of traumatic memories, so they can be integrated rather than relived. EMDR doesn't require you to talk through every detail. It works through bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps, or tones) to help the brain complete what it couldn't finish at the time of the trauma.

    Somatic Therapy

Trauma doesn't just live in your thoughts. It lives in your body. Somatic therapy works with physical sensations, breath, posture, and movement to help the nervous system discharge what it's been holding. You don't need to intellectually understand your trauma for somatic work to be effective. Sometimes the body just needs to be heard.

    DBT Skills & Emotional Regulation

Dialectical Behavior Therapy gives us practical skills for riding out intense emotions, improving relationships, and building distress tolerance. This is especially valuable when life feels most overwhelming and coping feels most impossible. DBT skills work, and they work fast enough to give you relief while deeper processing happens in the background.

    Attachment-Based & Relational Therapy

Your earliest relationships shaped how your nervous system developed, how you learned to connect (or protect yourself from connecting), and what you came to believe about your own worth. Attachment-based work helps us understand those blueprints and gently update them. This isn't about blaming your parents. It's about understanding yourself more fully and building something more secure from here.

Areas of Focus

What we can
work through together

Every person who comes to therapy brings their own story. These are the areas I specialize in and where I have the deepest experience and training.

Trauma & PTSD

One event or years of it, trauma changes how safe the world feels. We go at your pace, using IFS and EMDR.

Anxiety & Perfectionism

Anxiety and perfectionism are often protective parts trying to keep you safe from failure, rejection, or shame. IFS helps us get to know them and give them new jobs.

Depression & Low Self-Worth

Depression often coexists with a deep sense of not-enoughness. We work to reconnect you with your inherent worth and rebuild a life that feels worth living.

Women's Issues & Motherhood

Identity, boundaries, relationships, body image, motherhood, burnout: the terrain of being a woman is complex. I specialize in it.

Life Transitions

Divorce, job loss, becoming a parent, grief, identity shifts: transitions can destabilize even the most grounded person. Therapy helps you find footing in the uncertain.

Family Patterns & Relationships

Codependency, fawning, people-pleasing: relational patterns learned early show up everywhere. We can understand them and create new possibilities.

Common Questions

What people often ask

It depends on what you're working on and what you need. Some clients find relief in 12–16 sessions for specific concerns. Others do longer-term work for complex trauma or slower, deeper work. We'll check in regularly and let your goals guide the timeline.

Mariposa is a self-pay practice at $165 per session. I provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients find their insurance reimburses a portion of sessions this way. Call your insurer and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Traditional talk therapy often focuses on understanding your problems intellectually. IFS goes deeper: it works with the different "parts" of you (the inner critic, the perfectionist, the protector) to understand what each part is trying to do for you and help them shift. It tends to create change that sticks, because we're working at the level where the patterns actually live.

Not at all. EMDR is a powerful option for trauma processing, but it's never required. We always work at your pace with whatever approach feels right to you. Some clients prefer to build a strong IFS foundation first. Some go straight to EMDR. Some do both. You're always in the driver's seat.

Yes. I offer secure virtual sessions via telehealth for clients throughout Arizona. Virtual sessions are just as effective as in-person for most concerns, and many clients find the flexibility genuinely helpful for consistency.
